The article examines the scientific work of the famous Kazakhstani linguist E. D. Suleimenova and her influence on the development of Kazakhstani Linguistics. The focus is on the key areas of her research, including Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition Theory, Contrastive Linguistics, as well as language policy and intergenerational language transmission. The methodological principles developed within her school of thought and their application to contemporary humanities research are examined. Special attention is paid to the role of E. D. Suleimenova in the development of Kazakhstan’s language policy, analysing the language situation in the country and studying the factors influencing bilingual education. The scientist’s research covers a wide range of issues related to the functioning of the Kazakh and Russian languages in a multilingual society, the dynamics of language processes and intercultural communication. The work also highlights E. D. Suleimenova’s contribution to a new generation of researchers, her influence on the development of domestic and international Sociolinguistics. The significance of her works for the formation of conceptual foundations of language planning and preservation of linguistic diversity in Kazakhstan is emphasised. The authors draw attention to the importance of Prof. E. D. Suleimenova’s research for the theory of bilingualism and the practice of teaching a non-native language. The models of second language acquisition developed within the framework of her school and their influence on modern research of speech activity of bilinguals in Kazakhstan are analysed. The scientific school of E. D. Suleimenova continues to be an important part of linguistic discourse, uniting researchers working in the field of linguistic expertise, cognitive linguistics and communication theory.
